Yacht Delivery from UK to The Canaries
Yacht delivery from Lymington, Hampshire to Gran Canaria onboard a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36. Seaway were asked to provide a full delivery crew to deliver the yacht for her new owners.
We provided one of our best skippers, Ludwig along with a first mate, Peter who has been on numerous delivery trips with us. Our deckhand, Diego from Italy was
new to us, however he is an accomplished and experienced sailor.
Checks were made and agreed final works carried out by the broker, provisioning done, departure was made on 9th October. With a fairly light westerly wind, progress was gradual to start with until the forecasted northerlies came in and strengthened to a Force five. This gave the delivery crew the chance to sail on the reach rather than beating into the weather. This spead the boat up for a while until the wind eased to around 6 to 8 knots from the north. Engine back on to keep the average speed up, both sails up to maintain much much efficiency as possible and also to help the engine.
Arriving into Muros on Monday evening after a successful and safe Biscay crossing, for refueling and provisioning. A brief stop in Cascais for 24 hours due to strong headwinds hampering progress. Departing for the final destination on Sunday, the eighth day passage was done in good time despite south-westerly winds.
The crew arrived, and met the owner who was there to greet them in the marina. The following day was spent thoroughly cleaning the yacht for the new owners, and flights back home were taken. Another very satisfied owner with our service.
